Rwenzori Central Circuit Trail

Uganda has a lot to offer which you need to try out and that is the reason why it’s called the pearl of Africa. The country is blessed with all kinds of wildlife and many people don’t realize all its wildlife because they spend less time in Uganda. Uganda has improved towns and cities including Entebbe, Kampala, Mbarara, Arua and among other cities which have very good and friendly people to assist at any time.

There are lots of things to do on a safari in Uganda. Among the adventure activities to do in Uganda includes:

1. Enjoy Cultural Tours

Uganda is not only fairly tale land, a place with great weather, breathing taking landscapes, but also with a rich diversity of untapped culture and heritage. With over 30 tribes and over 40 languages shared among these, Uganda is definitely the ultimate place to experience the diverse cultural immersion. Some of the Uganda’s various tribes include the Baganda, Basoga, Acholi, Batwa, Karimojong, Bagisu, Banyankole etc. Each tribe has its own tradition and culture. Alternatively  visit Ndere Centre for cultural tourism.

The centre is a great source of information about Ugandan culture. Those seeking to know more about the country’s music, dance and traditions will be delighted by their shows and their barbecues are also well worth checking out. Even if you are not a fun of cultural dances and shows, you can enjoy their lovely and unique dishes ranging from western, Eastern, central and Northern cuisines.

2. Visiting Murchison falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is not just an average African Wildlife Park, it is a Wildlife with a river that runs through it, not just any River but the historic River Nile, and the most powerful waterfall in the world – Murchison Falls..

Murchison Falls National Park is the best all-around savanna park in Uganda. It is best place to see large herds of the endangered Rothschild Giraffes, large Elephant and Buffalo herds, many antelopes, a savanna with Borassus Palm Trees unlike other wildlife parks in East Africa.

Murchison Falls Park needs to be on your must do and visit list for Uganda – you will be delighted by the wide variety of wildlife, birds, reptiles found here includes  ;lions, leopards, other cats that you can see on day and night game drives on the savannah at Murchison Falls. On your boat ride safari up the Nile you will see countless of the large Nile Crocodiles, pods of Hippos, Nile Monitor Lizards, and even the elusive Shoebill Stork on occasions.

3. Seeing the tree climbing Lions

Lions are an easy find while on a safari in Africa but there are only a few places in the entire continent where you can find tree climbing Lions. The Ishasha Plains of Queen Elizabeth Park, Uganda is the best place to see these beasts climbing and sleeping in trees.

Ishasha sector is found in Queen Elizabeth National park just less than 8 hours drive from Kampala using a good 4 wheel drive car.

4. Tracking the mountain Gorillas

Gorilla is on the bucket list for many.  In Uganda you can make that dream come true on a Gorilla Trek where you are one hour with a Gorilla Family.  You can also spend 4 hours with a gorilla family during the Gorilla Habituation Experience.

5. Visiting the Ssese Islands

Many would find it unfathomable that a group of the world’s most luxurious islands can be found in the heart of mainland Africa, however Uganda takes pride in the fact it has Lake Victoria, one of the great African lakes and the source of the river Nile.

Lake Victoria also contains 84 tropical islands, of which around 43 are inhabited. These islands are a hidden gem, but now you know about them why not indulge in the island life and bathe in the glorious African sun before furtively sweeping through the island forests, searching for the rich array of wildlife. Evenings are for chatting with locals and eating the fresh fish that you caught that after-noon.

6. Hike on the Rwenzori Mountains

The Rwenzori Mountains offers a variety of things to do and see – activities in or near the park that you will find most enjoyable. .The Rwenzori Mountains also known as the “Mountains of the Moon” are the tallest mountain range in Africa, taller than the Alps of Europe, simply amazing sight. Several tour operators take many clients into the Foothills of the Mountains of the Moon where they get a taste of the local culture, and at the same time a taste of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park.  Mountain Climbers come from around to take the challenging climb without the crowds.

There is also the 3-Day Mahoma Trail that takes you into the Rwenzori Mountains up to Lake Mahoma which is proving a real winner with those that do not have 8 to 10 days to climb the Rwenzori Mountains.

7. Have a 1 day tour ing Uganda’s Capital City-Kampala

The Things to do and see in Kampala for Visitors to Africa’s Big Banana, If New York is the Big Apple, than Kampala certainly is Africa’s Big Banana – vibrant – alive.

It is the City that never sleeps – you have never seen a city such as Kampala where you can find out more people at night on the streets than you would during the daytime in some areas of the city. 8. Visiting the source of the Nile

Experience the 7th Natural Wonder of Africa – the River Nile at Jinja. There are many Rivers in the world but there are none like the ancient River Nile – the source of which is found in Jinja – Here in this sleepy African town of Jinja you find lots of Adrenaline pumping Adventures – .

There are the Itanda Falls, the Source of the Nile Park, take a boat ride into Lake Victoria, a sunset Cruise on the Nile or spend a couple of days the luxurious lodges in the Wild Waters Reserve of the Nile – that would be one of the most memorable stays in your life. Jinja – is a must place to do and see in Uganda.

These and more are some of the adventure activities to do in Uganda before you stroll back to your home country. Some adventures do need a short period of time ranging from 1 to 3 days while others take 4-7 days depending on your itinerary.
