
Amid growing insecurity in Kenya with the latest attack in Mandera leaving almost 38 Dead Inspector General David Kimaiyo has since resigned from office following criticism from different parties with claims of failing to contain the insecurity situation in Kenya citing his resignation on personal grounds.
The President, in a live broadcast, said he had accepted Mr Kimaiyo’s retirement and thanked him for his service. “I have nominated Hon. Major General (rtd) Joseph Nkaissery as the new cabinet secretary for interior and co-ordination of national government. I hope the government will expedite the process of his vetting and approval,” said President Kenyatta.
On the other hand credible sources indicate that President Uhuru Kenyatta has fired Cabinet Secretary for interior and Co-Ordination of National Government and in place appointed former cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery to take charge.
